Forgive, But Never Forget
"Forgive, but never forget." It's one of the most cynical phrases in the English language.
Reminding yourself of the bad someone did leads to resentment, anger, and bitterness. It's like drinking poison and expecting the other person to get sick.
When someone in our lives—a friend, parent, colleague, etc.—wrongs us (which is inevitable), we must forgive them, but never forget.
Never forget the times they were kind to you.
Never forget the times they supported and cared for you.
Never forget the times they expressed love to you.
Final Thoughts:
Do not get swept up by the immediate over-flood of emotion. 1 wrong mustn't outshine 1000 rights, or 100 rights, or even 10 rights.
